Depending on the season, this device offers a success rate of around 50% for one year old queens. It also protects the cells from being destroyed or pierced from the side by other bees.  

The queen cell protective tube works in three steps: 

• Take a block and cell cup assembly containing a closed queen cell, 
• Place the plastic cell cup with the queen cell into the protective tube, 
• Insert it between two frames.
