HOW DO I CHOOSE A BIRCH TREE FOR HARVESTING SAP?

You might be wondering whether some birch trees are better than others for harvesting birch water...well, we have the answer!

Soil quality:

To harvest the best sap possible, the quality of the soil is the key factor. Indeed, a soil rich in nutrients will ensure that these same nutrients are present in the sap. Therefore, before harvesting birch water, you should check the condition of the soil if possible.

It is recommended to look for areas with the lowest possible levels of pollution, forest areas, and areas far from agricultural land and busy roads. However, if the land where the birches are growing does not belong to you, you must get prior authorisation from the private owner of the land or the local authority.
